Splish Splash
Now Playing: juanez - La Camisa Negra
First off let me just start by apologizing for the lack of entries lately. I think it's been a month. Anyway...wow so whats been going on with me!
I went white water rafting the other weekend. HOLY SHIT! that was the most fun i've had since I've been here. First off we had to get up at the butt crack of dawn to catch a bus that was to take us to are paroles river destination. (Breakfast and lunch included) It was me and 5 other girls. Jess, Jessie, Kristen, Tasha and Michelle; OH and Yours truly! makes 6. Once equip with Helmet and life jacket they sent us on our way down one of the 5 best rafting rivers in the world. Class 4s and 5s, (class 6 is a waterfall) With a guide that did not speak a lick of English might I add. So lets Recap...6 rafting virgins in little rubber raft, helmets, vests and paddles in semi working fashion, bearing some of the scariest rapids in the world. With no Idea what our guide was telling us WHO THE FUCK TALKED ME INTO THIS! Right that be me. I talked me into this, ifact I was the one who talked everyone else into it. In Costa Rica they don't sign release forms for saftey...It's every ass hole for them selves. Great modo! PURA VIDA BABY!! Needless to say I survived. I mean I lived to tell about it. I wouldn't say I'm as sane as I was but I lived physically. We hit rock in a class 4 rapid and were told to move to the left side of the boat (I was on the right) in something that sounded like this: al la izqierda rapido! Which roughly translated is: get the hell over NOW! OK so Kristi (third person) wasn't as "rapido" as necessary and Michelle somehow ended up shoving me out of the boat. (shes from Portland I have time to get her back) BOY did i Freak! and I lost my flip flop. but I was only in the water for what seemed like 10 seconds. something grabbed me and heaved me back into the raft before I could even register what happened. Turns out are guide really does know what hes talking about. He had me out of there before I could officially swallow the hole river. Props to him. Michelle was also the only one who knew I fell out, since she pushed me; everyone else was like "HUH?" screw them! LOL Over all the trip was a huge adrenaline rush and I enjoyed myself every minute. Well thats my entry, let me know what you think, leave me comments!

Crack Whore on the home front!
Now Playing: holler - spice girls (i know theyre popular here shutup!)
Ok everyone, how are yall? Estoy bien, thanks for asking. I however apperently have a cocaine addict for a roomate and this weekend we had our appartment strip searched for drugs. Can I just say that was a barrel of monkeys if I ever had one. Turns out they found weed, coke and heroin! in out appt. Good thing is that I confessed before anything went down so I am ill and void from getting in trouble. Thank god! She fortunatley spent the weekend in montezuma with her crack whore friends and left the appt to me. Needless to say I had an eventful weekend finding out that I live in the drug capital of San Jose. Apparently an annonomous letter was written to the directors of the program about the drugs in the house and the rest is history. Im kinda glad though, she was no fun to room with. Ill be the first waving her goodbye and kicking her in the butt on the way out. I still have one roomate left, and im curious to find out what kind of demons she has in her closet. At this point anything could happen. Actually my other roomate is really respectful. I dont think Ill be finding leather whips and chains and other forms of torture devices under her bed or anything. well...then again ive never looked...hmmmmm. ok so Im about to check out of this blog nothing interesting has happened besides the whole drug bust thing. OH wait, I passed my final and im on to my next spanish course YAY..Ok with that peace out chicos

Hoco Poco
Now Playing: Biddy Bidd Bump Bump - selina
Hola
OK so Jaco (hoco) kinda sucked. the beach was really beautiful but the waves were crazy! you were'nt able to enter the water without being violated. The town, surprisingly was very american...Not just tourists, but the people who worked there, oh yeah and alot of prostitutes. Hoco, needless to say was not my favorite excursion. the hotel we stayed in was sketch. There were so many flying ants in our room, it was nasty, plus I had to share with four other girls and only one bathroom. i had ants landing on my face all night and big ass dragonfly's buzzing around my head. I have to thank my dad for that hella big aerosol can of bug spray otherwise i might be looking like the target for a dart team. Isla Tortuga on the other hand was gorgeous. We had to take a boat 2 hours to the island. Once we got there we got back on the boat and traveled a few yards to the reef where we went snorkeling. Can I just say I almost peed my pants I was so scared. There was alot of underwater life, we saw a turtle, and a couple of manta rays. One of which swam so close to me I nearly drowned my self with panic. For those of you who know me, will realize that i have a strange fear of anything that swims. How I justified snorkeling as being in anyway non subjective to this fear, I don't know. I didn't want to be left out and everyone else was going, so I went. I'm glad though because I got to see alot of really cool marine life. However I only really got to enjoy the last 2 minutes of it, because it took me a hole hour and 28 minutes to stop screaming. After the snorkeling adventure we hoped on back on the boat (more like heaved, and pulled, and droped) and went back to isla Tortuga to louge on the beach. We had a private marimba band and lunch and tour guids...It was surreal. Then we got an invitation for FREE banana boating. OK for those of you who have never done this and don't have a clue what it is, you want to find out and you want to go! trust me! First off they had us strattle a huge yellow banana shaped floating tube and gave us a life jacket and ONE rope to hold on too...Then they tethered us too (holy fucks its raining ducks) a jet boat and dragged us around the ocean at 3.5 times the speed of light and laughed while we held on to our tiny of floss and screamed. Needless to say we fell in the ocean a couple of times but for some reason that didn't bother me. My adrenaline was pumping so hard that any amount of fangs about to mince my feet were irrelevent to the excitement of the banana BOAT! Ahhhhh good times. Nothing more exciting the rest of the day. That was the highlight, everything else paled in comparison. I ended up passed out the hole trip home. What a weekend! This is Kristi, sighning out, Audios muchachos!

There's more to life then just monkeys
Now Playing: Don omar - O tra
Hey everyone!
first off let me just say, Welcome to my blogging web page. If your here your probably interested in what I've been doing, or your just bored. (most likely the latter.) Well, were do I've start? I'ts freaking hot here!!!! I'm realizing that I sweat in the most random places...well not random but uncomfortable to think about, places. But come to think of it, sweating is uncomfortable anyway. (what a way to start off a conversation, talking about your exit glands) Anyway, Ahhhh School hurts. I've have four hours a day of pure Spanish, It feels like someone put all forms of communication in a blender and hit frappe. I'm not even allowed to skip a day or I'll get kicked out of the program. Well technically I've already missed a day and it the third week. But its not my fault! I've got locked in the house. Turns out, the security is really tight here in Costa Rica and they make it damn near impossible to break into any house, or so as I have convieniently learned, even to break out. whodathunk? Things are really chill down here, I'm learning the meaning of "Tico time" everything is about 25 minutes behind what is scheduled. Even movies! I'm feeling it though. We go on excursions every weekend. The first weeked we hit up one of the volcano's...monte Areanal. We road horseback all the way up to the top (my ass is bruised) and swam in the most gorgeous waterfall I've ever seen! We also lounged in the hot springs were we drank cocktails and had girly water fights in our bakinis. (yes boys, I know your picturing that) the next day we went up to Monte Verde cloud forest and sailed on 11 separate zip lines over the rain forest...Can I just say that it was Amazing! Probably one of the coolest activities here! Last weekend we visited the pacific ocean in a town called Manuel Antonio. Imagine, Clear water, monkeys (obsessed with the monkey) sloths, iguanas, rain forest all around, secluded beach...something out of a Carona commercial. Incredible...the water was warm and tranquil. I've had the most relaxing time of my life. this weekend were going to the beach again but this time were going to Hoco, another town off the pacific. It's a surfers town, I'm gonna learn, I've decided. I'll let you know how that goes down...if I come back alive.LOL Were also going to visit Isla Tortuga...Home of the sea turtles and go snorkling...Way stokered for that! I've just realized that I'm spending a lot of time in the water here. meh, things could be worse.
OK, so monkeys are my new favorite obsession. so far I've seen 3. Not as many as I'd like but exciting none the less. I mean I've seen monkeys in the zoo but never in the wild. Its seriously the most incredible, moving, awesome thing in the world. I've tried to get one to come up to me by holding out some fruit but it just bared its teeth and hissed! yes monkeys hiss! I din't know that Ither...it was really funny though cause everyone started lauging at me. the director says she wouldn't be surprised if I came home with a bag full of monkeys and rabies to boot. HA! don't worry dad, I'm not going to bring home rabies. hehehe. So my times about up at the Internet cafe. I'll have to update you all on my time at Hoco.
-Kristi
P.S. I miss you all and wish you were here.
